Petitions/Prayer of the Faithful for May 1, 2016

Ellen McHugh has written the following petitions for next Sunday:

Prayer of the Faithful for May 1st, 2016
Sixth Sunday of Easter

Celebrant: Our Risen Lord invites us not to be distressed or fearful.  With confident trust, then, we bring our needs to him.

For the Church and for the whole human family: that God will pour out his Spirit so that hearts will strive for peace and reconciliation, justice and mercy and greater service toward those in need.  We pray to the Lord.

For those whose hearts are troubled and fearful.  For all those who are sick and all those who care for them. Bless the hands that tend to them, and grant them gifts of healing and comfort. We pray to the Lord.

For a spirit of concern for the future of our Earth; help us to live as responsible stewards protecting this gift of creation God has so graciously placed in our hands.  We pray to the Lord.

For the children of our parish receiving their First Holy Communion—may they always find joy in Jesus’ love for them and encouraged by our example as we welcome them into our faith community.  We pray to the Lord.

For all of us at St. Mary.  Pour out your Spirit upon us; help us to love both friend and stranger, building a community transformed by peace and healed of all that is broken.  We pray to the Lord.

Let us pause now and silently offer to the Father our own particular intentions [allow for silence. . .].  We pray to the Lord.

Celebrant: Father, you have made your dwelling with us.  Hear our prayers through the Lord of Love, Christ Jesus, our hope and our peace, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.  Amen.
