Fr. Thomas Tifft, Great Priest of the Cleveland Diocese

We have heard the sad news that Fr. Tom Tifft, President and Rector of St. Mary's Seminary (at Borromeo in Wickliffe) is suddenly and gravely ill. Fr. Tifft is one of the great priests of the Cleveland Catholic Diocese. He is also just a wonderful and normal man. We love him very much. His fate is in the hands of the Lord, whom he has served so well and so faithfully for over 40 years. He is a beloved priest, a beloved man, and he is in our prayers.

Our family has known Father for the past 42 years. He is a very special person and is always there for you when you need him. Also, for as long as we have known him, he has one of the most amazing memories of anyone. He has been there for us during happy, very sad times and now it is time for us to be there for him. I guess God needs someone as special as he is in Heaven. God Bless You and Keep You in the Palm of His Hand. We will see you in Heaven. Raymond and Joann Zelch Family.

Though Father Tift was known to you as Tom, he was known to my mother, LaVonne Ritchey, his aunt and godmother, and myself, his cousin John, as Tommy. The Ritchey family started out in Collinwood at E. 143 and Nell home of Tom's grandparents Thomas and Stella Ritchey. Tom was a youth an active member of St. Joseph's Colinwood Parish. Though he briefly attended St. Joseph's High School, Tom transfered to Borromeo High School about three years before graduation.
Tom was a key member of our family and always there in time of any family member's need.
His Aunt LaVonne will miss him much.
From your cousin,
John
